We are the first company in the world in this segment to have its forest management certified by FSC®.

Also certified by ISO 9.001, we produced pitch and turpentine extracted from the gum-resin of the Pinus elliotti forests indicated for the production of paints, varnishes, adhesives, enamels, perfumes, among other products.

The Resin Unit is located in Balneário Pinhal (RS) and has the capacity to produce 50 tons per day of Pitch and 15 tons per day of Turpentine.

Our main foreign markets are: Chile, United States, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Turkey, India, Japan and France

OUR PRODUCTS:

PITCH

We produce Pinus resins selected according to the environmental management standards for the manufacture of pitch and turpentine, raw materials of great versatility in products such as varnishes, paints, adhesives and enamels.

Pitch: Pitch is a transparent yellow solid, produced from pine resinous secretions. It is composed of abietic acid (main component) and used for applications of products such as glues, adhesives, soaps, enamels, electrical insulators, chewing gum, waxes and expectorants.

Aplications: printing inks, paper glue, adhesives, emulsifiers, rubbers and other segments, among them, cosmetics, soaps, detergents and food industries such as chewing gum.

Turpentine

We produce Pinus resins selected according to the environmental management standards for the manufacture of pitch and turpentine, raw materials of great versatility of applications in products such as varnishes, paints, adhesives and enamels.

Turpentine: The type of turpentine obtained in Irani is that of gum resin. Turpentine is a clear liquid with characteristic odor and bitter taste. It is used as a solvent in paints and varnishes, manufacture of dyes, waxes, disinfectants (pine oil), camphor, soaps, insecticidal greases, seals, perfume fixatives, among others.

Aplications: Because it consists of aromatic cyclic, turpentine is used as a raw material for the industrialization of a large number of products such as terpenyl acetate, isobornyl, terpineol acetate that are used in the fragrances and perfumery industry. The “pine” disinfectants that have germicidal action lead in their formulation, the pine oil from the industrialization of turpentine. In the fine chemicals industry, turpentine is used for vitamins, natural insecticidal components, resins for special glues, among others. Its use extends as solvents of special paints as well as in the pharmaceutical area.

Our Production

The Irani resin process is performed on selected trees that need to be approximately 12 years old and at least 18 centimeters in diameter.

The resin consists of the extraction of gum resin in live trees. It is considered by many as a way to anticipate revenues from a forest deployed for other purposes, other than the production of gum resin. In addition, it generates direct jobs and contributes to the establishment of man in rural areas. The resin gum obtained by the exudation of the pine trees is a mixture of long-chain hydrocarbons, composed of several resin acids, mainly of abietic acid, which after distillation becomes the solid part, called pitch, and the volatile part, composed of aromatic cyclic, called turpentine.

In Irani, the products obtained in this process are mostly marketed to the foreign market.
